Sports without limitations was the theme of this year’s “Abilities days”, a celebration institution started in 2019 that aims to highlight the abilities of people with visible and invisible disabilities to overcome obstacles and difficulties. During this exciting weekend, each participant had the opportunity to learn, train and play Paralympic sports, under the coordination and continuous coaching of Paralympic athlete Makis Kalaras. Sports such as boccia, goalball and wheelchair fencing have given the public the opportunity to compete on an equal footing in sports for people with disabilities, creating a world where human endurance, will, perseverance and inclusion are paramount.
Dimitris Kontopidis, initiator of abilities days and a person with an invisible disability himself, thanked the event’s supporters, SYNATHINA and AMKE AEGEAS, the volunteers and athletes who once again gave a different color to these days of celebration:
“Every day is an opportunity to prove that regardless of the lack of functionality that each of us may have, we have abilities. We can work, innovate, play sports and live a life without limitations. It is enough for the state and society, which is none other than our office colleague, neighbor and fellow citizen, to understand the values of equality and inclusion. All of us, regardless of the possible obstacles we face, putting stereotypes aside, can discover our limitless potential.”
